OK, you have to come!
(click on image to make it larger & easier to read)
I've been blogging a long while about the Texas music scene, and finally, I have another event to offer, the Blues Capital Revue! I can really recommend some of these acts, as I have encouraged, fostered and even raised one of them myself!
It promises to be a historic, fun filled, inspiring night, as NINE acts take the stage in five hours. All musical acts which have some kind of connection to Navasota. DOWNTOWN, at the CROSSROADS, at Miller's Theater! How cool is that?
I'm very excited to announce that Joe Tex II will be coming to do a tribute to his father, the king of Texas soul music, who lived here, and right near Joe Tex's birthday. Navasota Band, a veteran rock / blues group that traces its history back to Credence Clearwater Revival covers and Navasota, in the 70's, will top the evening off.
It all starts at 6:00 on Thursday, August 11th, as we kick off the SIXTEENTH annual Navasota BluesFest, which will be held out at the Grimes County Expo Center as usual.
Also appearing will be!: (in order)
6:00 Jacob Austin Band ... A family that does Gospel & bluegrass
6:30 Dr. Michael Birnbaum ...Country Blues presentation by Mance Lipscombs disciple!
7:00 Misslette the Singing Cowgirl ... Western & Blues & some surprises!
7:30 The Blues Alley Cats ... Excellent blues by our own Friday night jammers
8:00 Raegan Cushman... debuts her first album of original songs...
8:30 Joe Tex II ... Soul and R&B tribute to Joe Tex
9:00 Third Rail... Suzannah Armstrong and her bluegrass band
9:30 Tony Taylor... Son of our former police chief, now an upcoming Austin rocker
10:00 Justin Mahaffey... Cowboy poetry, extemporaneous songs... he's incredible!
10:15 NAVASOTA BAND! Combined hundreds of years of rockin' experience!
It's going to be incredible, as for the first time, Navasota celebrates its own musicians, as many as we could get togeher!
Tickets are $8.00 in advance (at Blues Alley) or $10.00 at the door... if there are any left!
