In an unrelated story, all of the city officials (who could) went to the Texas Municipal League Conference in gorgeous Corpus Christi. This is where all the City officials learn how to blow up and tie balloons.
Anyway, while there, at the birthplace of our favorite hamburger, Mayor Bert Miller found the founder, (or a reasonable facsimile) and begged for a Whataburger near you. This is just one effort in a series of desperate measures to entice the hamburger chain into the Navasota ETJ.
Mr. Whataburger was friendly, but non-committal. As in the past, he has refused any discourse until every other damn hamburger chain has built their own store here first. The conversation was ended abruptly when store security asked the Mayor to kindly leave the old man, now pitifully sun-tanned beyond recognition, alone.
