The splendor of summer.
Navasota, among many other assets, has an unsurpassed array of crepe myrtles, which are really showing off this summer. The perfectly timed rains and blistering sunshine have made them bust out with heavenly color. Another artist recently told of her trip to Italy, where the tourguides bragged about the profuse collections of flowered trees there, that looked "like giant bouquets."
"They were just crepe myrtles, like the ones we have in Texas!" she said sarcastically. Sometimes you have to go somewhere else so that you can appreciate what you have.
